Outstanding Kimberley Experience

We had an absolutely amazing experience with Kimberley Adventure Tours and couldn’t recommend them highly enough!

A special mention has to go to Jacob, who was absolutely exceptional. His knowledge of the Kimberley was exemplary — he was incredibly informative, passionate and always happy to share his knowledge, which made the experience even more memorable.

And then there was the food! Jacob and Pav’s cooking skills were amazing — enjoying such delicious meals while traveling through such an incredible part of Australia was definitely a highlight. The food was consistently fantastic and far exceeded our expectations.

The whole experience was made even more special by the wonderful team (Jacob) and the attention to detail throughout the trip.

If you’re wondering whether it’s worth taking young children, don’t hesitate. Our kids had the adventure of a lifetime, and so did we. It was, without question, one of the most extraordinary travel experiences our family has ever had.

What makes Kimberley Adventure Tours so special isn’t just the spectacular landscapes (which genuinely exceeded every expectation we had), it’s the people and the way the experience is delivered.

Jacob was simply exceptional. His depth of knowledge about the Kimberley its geology, history, wildlife, ecology and Indigenous culture added so much richness to every single day. He shared stories with genuine respect and cultural awareness, helping us understand not just what we were seeing, but why these places matter. His passion for the Kimberley is infectious.

On top of that, I honestly don’t think there’s anything Jacob can’t fix! Jakob approached everything with calm confidence, humour and kindness. And somehow, after long days of adventure, he would produce incredible meals over a campfire that became a highlight in themselves.

Bryony was equally wonderful and such an important part of what made the tour so memorable. She has an incredible ability to make everyone feel welcome, cared for and included. Her warmth, positivity and genuine kindness created such a relaxed atmosphere, and she seemed to anticipate what people needed before they even asked. Whether she was sharing stories, supporting families or simply making people laugh, she brought so much energy and heart to the experience. Our children absolutely adored her, and she made them feel like valued members of the team throughout the journey.

Travelling as a family with young children can sometimes feel daunting, but this tour struck the perfect balance between adventure and safety. The smaller group size meant it felt incredibly personal. Our children were welcomed, encouraged and included from day one, and we always felt completely safe and supported.

The exclusive campsites, incredible hikes, swimming holes, 4WD experiences and evenings around the campfire created memories we’ll treasure forever.

Where do I start?

I love a sunburnt country!
I love red dirt! I love those haunting open skies!

Tim and his exceptional crew in Joey, Will and Tildy surpassed every expectation. Wizards of the Wild West! This 10-day tagalong tour of The Kimberley was nothing short of exceptional.

What an adventure we had. From the remote exclusive camping sites, glistening water holes, rugged boulder hikes, majestic gorges and the intrepid 4-wheel driving with a true “she’ll be right” approach, no stone was left unturned.

We will forever remember this trip and the amazing families we met, the good ol’ Aussie humour and our impassioned guides.

My first holiday of no cooking or organising meals was a true highlight. The bush tucker was hard to beat.

None of this would be possible without the impeccable planning of Tim and his team, letting us in on their secrets of the Kimberley and hypnotising us with their whimsical storytelling.

I don’t need to drink the Kimberley Kool-Aid.
Its beauty is raw and real.

So I decided to give myself a couple of weeks after the end of our trip, just to see if the glow of the sunset over Cable Beach on our last day slipped away. It has not. Kimberley Adventure Tours were recommended to us as one of the most fulfilling travel experience by a well travelled friend. We wholeheartedly now agree. Jacob and Bryony were the perfect hosts, guides, cooks, 2way radio stars, knowledgeable, secret campsites finders and 4WD instructors-they are gold.
The Kimberleys are amazing and we managed to discover what has to be the best way to see. So Good.

10 Stars If We Could – Best Family Holiday Ever!

We joined a Kimberley Adventure Tour (KAT) as a family of five (with three boys aged 9, 12, and 14), and every one of us has said it was the best holiday we’ve ever had. We haven’t stopped talking about it since we got back!
We hadn’t quite appreciated before we arrived in the Kimberley that it’s made up of vast, privately owned pastoral leasehold land rather than national parks, like other outback areas. Thanks to KAT’s owner Tim’s planning, years of experience and deep relationships across the region, we got access to incredible, remote spots that most people would never know existed, let alone be able to enjoy as a private bush camp. It felt like we were getting a behind-the-scenes pass to the Kimberley!
The tour itself was brilliantly run. Our guides, Jacob and Marjorie, were knowledgeable, supportive, and just great fun. We always felt safe, even when we were being challenged—whether it was off-road 4WDing (so much fun and really well coached), climbing and scrambling up rock walls in gorges, or swimming into remote waterfalls. The environment they created made it easy for everyone to push themselves and have an awesome adventure.
And the food—wow. As parents, having breakfast, lunch, and dinner sorted was a dream. Marjorie’s camp cooking was next level (her bush donuts were a massive hit with the kids!).
The Kimberley itself is absolutely magical. Even if you’ve already explored places like Kakadu or Uluru, the Kimberley has a unique, wild beauty that’s hard to describe. It’s something you have to experience at least once in your life. And if you’re going to do it, go with KAT. You won’t regret it. Just wicked and worth every cent — book it!

One of our best trips ever. Jacob and Pav were brilliant guides, chefs, story tellers, hole diggers and generally great fun. Pre-trip organisation was excellent. Trucks were well appointed and worked well. Mix of road and off road experiences. So many great sights. All round a fab trip with a group of great friends.
