About Kimberley Adventure Tours

Kimberley Adventure Tours began in Kununurra in 1997 with a simple goal: to show visitors the Kimberley in the most authentic way possible.

In those early years, we travelled in the iconic Toyota Troop Carrier – or “Troopy” as every Aussie knows it. They were tough, reliable and perfectly suited to the rugged Kimberley. They also weren’t exactly famous for comfort! But what they lacked in luxury, they more than made up for in character. Small groups, plenty of laughs and unforgettable adventures created an atmosphere that our guests absolutely loved.

By around 2017, travellers’ expectations had changed. Comfort had become a much bigger priority, and like many operators, we moved to larger overland trucks. While they offered a smoother ride and more amenities, something was missing. The close-knit, adventurous spirit that made the Troopy tours so special had faded.

Then COVID gave us an unexpected opportunity to rethink everything.

Rather than simply going back to business as usual, we asked ourselves a different question:

How could we recreate everything people loved about the old Troopy tours, while delivering the comfort today’s travellers expect?

After plenty of brainstorming, the answer became our Kimberley Tagalong Tours.

Today, every couple or family travels in their own fully equipped 4WD with a camper, following our experienced guide through the Kimberley’s most spectacular landscapes. You enjoy the freedom and excitement of driving your own vehicle, while we take care of the planning, navigation, camping logistics and local knowledge.

The result is everything we loved about the original tours—small groups, genuine adventure and unforgettable shared experiences—but with a level of comfort and flexibility that simply wasn’t possible before.

We genuinely believe we’ve created something unique, and judging by the incredible reviews from our guests, they agree.

Kimberley Adventure Tours is proudly owned and operated by a small team of passionate adventurers who genuinely love sharing the Kimberley with others. We believe the people behind a tour make all the difference, and we’re committed to creating experiences that are friendly, authentic and unforgettable.

Tim & Bianca Grigg

Kimberley Adventure Tours is owned and managed by husband-and-wife team Tim and Bianca Grigg.

Tim oversees the day-to-day operations of the business, including tour planning, sales, marketing and, whenever he gets the chance, leading the Kimberley tours. With decades of experience exploring the region, he’s passionate about sharing its incredible landscapes, history and stories with every guest.

Bianca is the organisational powerhouse behind the scenes. As a qualified accountant, she manages the administration, finances and bookings that keep everything running smoothly. She’s also no stranger to the outback and occasionally joins tours as a guide, where her friendly nature and attention to detail are always appreciated by guests.

Together, Tim and Bianca have built Kimberley Adventure Tours around a simple philosophy: small groups, genuine adventure and creating experiences that guests will remember for a lifetime.

Jacob Fisher

Jacob Fisher is our Head Kimberley Tour Guide and leads the majority of our Kimberley Tagalong Tours.

With more than a decade of experience exploring and guiding throughout the Kimberley, Jacob has an incredible depth of knowledge about the region’s history, geology, wildlife and Aboriginal culture. Whether you’re standing beneath a towering waterfall, exploring ancient rock art or driving the Gibb River Road, there’s always an interesting story or fascinating fact to learn.

What really sets Jacob apart is his passion for people. He’s a relaxed, engaging host who has an uncanny ability to remember facts, answer just about any question and make every guest feel welcome from day one.

It’s no surprise that Jacob is regularly mentioned by name in our five-star reviews, with guests consistently praising his enthusiasm, professionalism and genuine love for sharing the Kimberley.

Nicole Dirckze

Nicole is the friendly voice behind many of our tours and has been an integral part of Kimberley Adventure Tours since 2018.

Working behind the scenes, Nicole manages guest enquiries, bookings and tour logistics, ensuring everything runs smoothly long before our tours leave Kununurra. If you’ve called or emailed us, chances are you’ve already spoken with Nicole.

From helping guests choose the right tour to answering questions about packing, itineraries and what to expect, Nicole has a knack for making the planning process simple and stress-free. Her attention to detail and clear communication ensure every guest feels informed and confident before they arrive.

The positive feedback we receive about Nicole is a testament to her dedication. Guests regularly comment on her friendly manner, prompt communication and willingness to go the extra mile to help.

Nicole is often the first member of our team you’ll meet—and she plays a big part in making sure your Kimberley adventure gets off to the perfect start.
